Crafting the Storyline:

At the heart of the video lies the narrative of the couple's wedding. With the song's title, "Ejo," translating to "tomorrow," we sought to capture the essence of love beyond the wedding day, delving into the excitement and anticipation of what lies ahead. 70% of the video centered around the wedding with additional clips seamlessly woven in to depict life beyond the celebration. Incorporating real footage from the wedding, we aimed to immerse viewers in the couple's heartfelt love, while seamlessly integrating moments that reflect their growth as a family onward.

Collaborative Efforts with the Video Crew:

Collaboration was key in harnessing diverse styles and expertise to elevate the video's visual impact. Working alongside Director Cedric also known as Cedru, whose invaluable experience and previous successful collaborations with King James set the stage for a seamless production process, was instrumental in realizing our vision.

Mastering Video Coloring:

Our goal was to strike a balance between modern aesthetics and cinematic allure. One of the biggest challenges we faced was harmonizing the color grading across different camera sources to evoke specific emotions while maintaining visual cohesion. For instance, scenes set in the restaurant exude warmth and dark hues , evoking an intimate ambiance. On the other hand, the scenes featuring the couple's son resonate with vibrant orange hues, fostering a deeper connection with the audience.

Navigating Video Editing Challenges:

Editing proved to be a labor of love as we worked with our editing team headed by Top Saint to curate each frame to align with the video's narrative arc. The introduction had to hook viewers in and set the story with the child running either towards or from something or someone. And adding the reverse feature gradually unveiling the storyline's depth.

The video opens with a captivating shot of the child running with a sense of purpose, hinting at a revelation to come later in the narrative.
To symbolize the cyclical nature of life after the wedding, we ingeniously incorporated a reverse effect, showcasing how endings can also signify new beginnings.
Beginning with the couple poised and ready, the video seamlessly weaves together scenes from the wedding, moments outside the ceremony, and intimate glimpses of the couple's son, crafting a multifaceted storytelling experience.

Elevating Sound Engineering:

Credits go to Knox Beat on the song's production which laid the foundation for its soul-stirring melody. However, for the reverse motion sequence, we enlisted the expertise of 2x Latin Grammy winner Alaín Pérez to infuse a distinct auditory flair, paying homage to another song called "Kibagira" that is on the same album. If you listen closely to the reverse part, you will hear the deemed version of the song along with a clock-ticking sound. This adds an extra layer of depth to the viewing experience.

From Building a Fitness Brand to Running the Boston Marathon.

Welcome to our Q&A series, where we delve into the journeys of entrepreneurs, business owners, and individuals passionate about branding and visual storytelling. Today, we're thrilled to kick off this series with our first guest and long-term client, Johnny Gisagara, the founder behind J.G. Fitlife, a fitness training and lifestyle brand.

What inspired you to start J.G. Fitlife?

J.G. Fitlife was born from a deep-seated passion for health and fitness. In early 2017, amidst battling moments of depression and stress, I found joy and empowerment in the gym. As fate would have it, my journey as a personal trainer began shortly before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

How easy or complicated is it to maintain clients and keep them motivated?

Maintaining clients and keeping them motivated in the fitness industry can challenging. Interest often fluctuates depending on various factors such as seasons or individual needs. Many clients come with specific goals and timelines in mind. However, from my experience, I emphasize the importance of finding enjoyment in the fitness journey itself rather than solely focusing on the results. Motivation can waver, but I encourage clients to prioritize discipline and cultivate healthy habits, as these are more sustainable in the long run. I also incorporate different workouts so that they are not used to the same routine. And adding music really helps.

Why did you start running?

I started running as a natural extension of my lifelong love for soccer. However, it became more significant after undergoing ACL surgery, during which I set a personal goal to run a 10K race within six months of my surgery. This commitment drove me to work diligently toward my recovery and eventual participation in the race. Following this milestone, I discovered a supportive running community in Boston called Pioneers, which further fueled my motivation to continue running. Each year, I found myself drawn to the challenge of increasing my distances, finding in running a new avenue for personal growth outside of the gym. Combining running with strength training has proven to be a perfect balance, enriching both my physical and mental well-being.

How was your experience running your first world major marathon, the Boston Marathon?

Running my first World Major Marathon, the Boston Marathon, was an incredibly special experience for me. Having completed my first marathon (26.True) the year before, I was familiar with the distance but lacked a structured training plan. For the Boston Marathon, I enlisted the help of my brother, who coached me through a rigorous 16-week training cycle. This training period marked numerous firsts for me, including track workouts, tempo runs, and learning about proper fueling and recovery strategies. The training itself became a cherished part of the journey.

Preparation is key but you also had some lessons along the way. Can you share tips with those running their first marathon?

Absolutely! Here are some essential tips for those embarking on their first marathon journey:

Approach marathon training with a sense of curiosity and wonder about what your body can achieve. Enjoy the process of discovering your capabilities and pushing your limits.
Marathon preparation requires consistent and dedicated training. Aim for a minimum of 16 weeks to adequately build your endurance and strength for the race day.
If feasible, hiring a coach can provide personalized guidance and support tailored to your needs and goals. However, if hiring a coach isn't an option, there are plenty of free training plans available online from reputable sources.
Training with others can offer motivation, accountability, and camaraderie. Look for local running groups or clubs to connect with like-minded individuals, share experiences, and gain valuable support throughout your training journey.
Don't underestimate the importance of rest and strength training in your training plan. Listen to your body, incorporate gym sessions days, and prioritize sleep, nutrition, and hydration to optimize your performance and prevent injuries.*

What advice do you have for those wanting to start their running journey?

For those embarking on their running journey, my advice is to embrace the freedom that running offers. Find joy in running at your own pace and distance, and don't hesitate to challenge yourself along the way. Understand that improvement comes with consistency, and initially, it may feel difficult until your body adapts. To prevent injuries, prioritize recovery, maintain a healthy diet, and incorporate strength training into your routine. With perseverance and a balanced approach, you'll discover the immense rewards of the running journey.

In the context of our fitness brand, investing in branding, which includes professional videos, holds immense importance. It's a powerful tool for establishing our unique identity in the competitive fitness industry. At Shax Media, we believe in the power of community. That's why we're thrilled to announce that we have joined the Tysons Community Alliance 's Tyson's Teammates initiative. Our headquarters is located in Tysons, and we're committed to giving back to the community that we live and work in.

Our journey with the Tysons Community Alliance began with a meaningful volunteer opportunity with Food for Others , a vital organization that has been serving Northern Virginia since 1995. Food for Others plays a crucial role in our region's safety net, providing food assistance to families in need during emergencies and helping working poor families supplement their food supplies.

During our recent volunteer event, members of the Tyson's Teammates, including our Shax Media team, rolled up our sleeves and got to work. Over the course of two hours, we packed approximately 450 weekend meals for students in the Tysons area. It was a humbling experience to know that our efforts would directly impact the lives of children and families right here in our community.

The need for food assistance in Tysons is significant, with an estimated 54,000 families facing food insecurity. Food for Others has been a lifeline for many of these families, assisting over 3,000 households in Tysons alone. Recently celebrating their one-year anniversary serving families in the area, Food for Others relies heavily on volunteers and donors to sustain their essential services.

Their donations come from various sources, including grocery stores, local farms, and individual contributions. In 2023 alone, Food for Others delivered an impressive 3.5 million pounds of food across the DMV area, a testament to their commitment to serving those in need. Part of their success lies in providing a diverse range of food options that cater to the unique needs of our diverse neighborhood.

As members of the Tysons Teammates and advocates for our community, we are proud to stand alongside Food for Others in their mission to alleviate hunger in Northern Virginia.

Diplomacy :

Over the past three decades, Rwanda has significantly expanded its diplomatic reach, boasting 47 diplomatic offices worldwide, the newest embassy and first in Latin America just opened in Brazil. With 45 diplomatic missions hosted in Rwanda, and a robust peacekeeping presence comprising almost 6000 peacekeepers, Rwanda stands as a prominent player in global diplomacy. Collaborations such as the partnership with the United Kingdom to address migration crises demonstrate Rwanda's commitment.

Economic Development :

Rwanda's commitment to combating human trafficking and fostering economic development has yielded remarkable results. The nation has welcomed over 3000 refugees from Libya and played a pivotal role in launching the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, the largest of its kind in the world. Strategic partnerships with organizations like the Global Fund for AIDS Development in Africa, FIFA Development Office and the Susan Buffet Foundation underscore Rwanda's position as a hub for economic innovation and development.

Unveiling the founder of Shax Media

Welcome to our newly launched blog, where we'll delve into a world of creativity, covering a spectrum of subjects including videography, photography, social media, branding, and event planning. For our inaugural blog post, we are thrilled to introduce none other than Shax, the visionary behind Shax Media. Here's a glimpse into his thoughts:

Why did you start Shax Media?

I started Shax Media to funnel my desire for creativity. The journey began with recording videos of friends and the captivating surroundings. I was hooked, it felt like second nature. It became more than a hobby when I started offering pro-bono services to hone my skills. It wasn't until I secured my first paying project, a $120 dance video, that I realized my work was valued by others. The turning point came in 2016 when I had the opportunity to work with the United Nations. That opportunity changed the trajectory of my work. My hobby suddenly turned into a real business. It became evident that there was a growing demand for visual storytelling, and people highly valued quality work. Over the years, I knew that we needed to pivot beyond videography. We understand the challenges that business owners and corporations face when dealing with different vendors, and that's why we've transformed into a one-stop-shop media company. As of October, we have added branding, social media management, and event planning to the services we provide. If you need design/printing, we can do it. If you need social media support, we can do it. If you need a brand or product video, we can do it. If you need to plan a cocktail event, we can do it.

What does creativity mean to you?

Creativity is a powerful form of self-expression. It allows individuals to convey their thoughts and emotions in unique and innovative ways that traditional communication cannot achieve. The possibilities within creativity are limitless, as it has the ability to inspire, educate, sell, bring joy, evoke emotions, and connect people. For us at Shax Media, creativity is the vehicle through which we help our clients tell their unique stories and connect with their audience.

Why should companies care about branding and their visual image?

People are more attracted to things we can see, hear and feel. It's not just about selling a product; it's about creating a connection that transcends the transaction. Effective branding ensures that your clients see your company as more than just a product; they see it as something they can relate to, aspire to be a part of, and trust. This connection is forged through compelling visuals and storytelling. What makes a brand unique? If I walk outside and see your brand, would I know what you do? Or if I scroll through social media and I see your brand, will I recognize the colors, logos and visual aesthetic? Does your brand evoke emotions or make me laugh or motivate me? That's why investing in branding is crucial; it's about giving your brand an identity that resonates with your audience on a deep, emotional level.

Give us a glimpse of your clientele?

We understand that each client is unique, and we don't apply a one-size-fits-all approach. Our journey starts with a strategic approach, tailoring our services to meet their specific needs.

We've been fortunate to collaborate with clients across diverse industries. This diversity has not only expanded our capabilities but also enriched our ever-growing portfolio. In today's digital age, all our clients share a common need for effective visual storytelling. We bring our expertise to address a wide range of challenges. For example, we've provided essential livestreaming support for a government contractor’s townhall meeting, crafted a long-form video for the African American Institute, in NY to showcase their partnership with Rutgers University, produced engaging product videos for a restaurant in DC, and for a doctor in Arizona, we seamlessly curated the look, feel, content ideas, and reels for her social media platforms.

What would you say to younger people trying to pursue a career in media?

Media is fun and very versatile. It just takes time to perfect, and a lot of practice. You never stop learning. Eventually you’ll find your sweet spot. Here's are some tips to consider:

Immerse Yourself : Immerse yourself in the world of media and surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share your passion.
Persistence is Key : Starting out can be challenging, but persistence is your best friend. Don't be discouraged by closed doors. Keep knocking, keep creating, and keep pushing forward.
Build Your Portfolio : At the beginning of your career, you might not have a portfolio or experience. You can start with pro-bono work and working on personal projects.
Protect Yourself : When you start landing clients, always protect your business by creating detailed contracts and getting them signed before a project begins. This ensures that both you and your clients have a clear understanding of what to expect from each other.
Never Stop Learning : The world of media is constantly evolving. To stay at the forefront, you should never stop learning and adapting to new trends and technologies.
